Microsoft might launch a new foldable with Windows 12

Foldables are big right now, but the word is currently associated with smartphones. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold are a big reason for this, although the likes of Xiaomi, Oppo and Huawei have all made devices of their own. Even Microsoft got in on the act with the Surface Duo, albeit with a dual-screen design instead of a single screen that folds in half. It was first announced back in October 2019 alongside the Surface Neo, a larger version running Windows 10X. The latter has since been cancelled, but Microsoft is surely still considering a foldable Surface device that can be both a tablet and a laptop. With Windows 12 rumoured to be released in 2024, it could be the perfect opportunity. Here are four big reasons why.

1. Windows 12 is probably two years away…
Given Windows 11 was only released last October, it’s no surprise that its successor isn’t expected anytime soon. However, it probably won’t be anything like the six-year gap between Windows 10 and 11. Last month, a Windows Central report claimed that Microsoft was shifting to a three-year update cycle for major versions of Windows. If true, it would mean a potential Windows 12 arrives at some point in 2024. Given the current state of the hybrid market, releasing a new foldable device would be a huge risk for Microsoft. The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold and Asus’ Zenbook 17 Fold OLED are extremely expensive and don’t yet make a compelling enough case to replace your laptop and tablet. Two years from now, the situation may have changed significantly.

Forget Windows 11, Windows 12 is apparently releasing soon

A Windows 11 successor is seemingly on the cards, as Microsoft has apparently canned a major update and plans to release Windows 12 in 2024 Windows 11 is fresh on the scene, but Microsoft is apparently planning to release Windows 12 in 2024. The company has also allegedly cancelled its next big Windows update, known as Sun Valley 3, in an effort to prepare for its next big operating system release. According to Windows Central, Microsoft is switching back to its old three-year release date rhythm, meaning a Windows 11 successor could arrive soon. Dubbed “next valley”, insiders say the company’s next major operating system should arrive in 2024, while planned Sun Valley 3 features will now be included as part of the upcoming Sun Valley 2 update.

It’s not clear whether the next major release will arrive with a Windows 12 title, especially if it pulls another ‘seven ate nine’ gag like with Windows 10. As you’d perhaps expect, the OS is also very early on in development, so it’ll be a while before we get a sniff at potential features.

If you’re a fan of Windows 11, news of a successor might come as a sombre surprise. However, an additional change in update practices means the operating system could gain new features every few months, meaning it’ll potentially burn bright before it hands over its keys.

In terms of market share, Windows 10 still wears the operating system crown, but Windows 11 is slowly taking over the reins. Whether or not it’ll completely take over before 2024 remains to be seen, but gaming PC features like auto HDR and DirectStorage should help tempt more users to make the jump.

Windows12 Release Date 2024 all Features.

After announcing their most recent technology conference, Microsoft is getting ready to introduce Windows 12, continuing its tradition of developing and releasing new software products. Users of Windows have been eagerly anticipating the release of the Windows 12 release date, which has several brand-new features in addition to those included in previous versions of the operating system. When we consider the last few years, in which Microsoft delivered Windows 10 immediately after Windows 8, there is no question that the Microsoft Windows 12 operating system has the potential to be the greatest to date.

Windows 12 Release Date
According to a claim by sources, the release of Windows 12 would occur in 2024 if Microsoft adheres to the three-year upgrade schedule. There have been no more precise rumours at this point, and it isn’t easy to make forecasts so far in advance. To provide some background, the announcement of Windows 11 took place in June 2021, and the operating system was made available to the public for the first time in October 2021. However, the complete deployment to all compatible devices took several months, so the same thing will probably happen this time. As the debut date draws nearer, it would not surprise us if that date underwent more adjustments. Considering that Microsoft has not yet made any formal statements on the issue.

However, the fact that Microsoft may have changed its intentions for the naming strategy for future versions of Windows does not indicate that new features will be postponed until those versions are released. They will be included as part of the routine software upgrades sent to the Windows 11 operating system.
